I've never been to a Game Jam, how does it work?
Dont worry if you don't know how to make games. We will have plenty of resources, mentors, and workshops for you to learn from. The event is meant for you to come and learn something new!
Is it individual or team based?
Teams can be up to 5 members. Each member must register but will be grouped together into teams.
I don't have a team, what should I do?
If you don't have a team, or lack members for a team, do not worry! Prior and during the event we will have matching sessions where you can find other people to work with.
Virtual Game Jam? How does that even work?
The HackUTD Team has been hard at work to give the best delivery system to make the GameJam as lively as possible. We will have a discord server for you to communicate with teammembers, mentors, partner organizations, and other participants. There will be Voice Channels for you to communicate with your team and ask questions. We'll be live-streaming the workshops, events, and ceremony's on Youtube live and they will be recorded so you won't miss a single minute worth of events!
When is the Game Jam?
HackUTD GameJam will be on October 25th-31st. Submissions must be submitted by October 30th. On October 31st you will be able to play other peoples games and vote on your favorite one!
How does a week long event work?
You're free to work on your Game the whole week at anytime you want to. We don't expect you to stay engaged the whole time, we will have workshops and events in the evening to help you learn more on how to develop games!
Who is eligible?
Anyone that is currently enrolled at University of Texas at Dallas is allowed to participate. All majors are welcome to participate and people from all backgrounds!
How much does it cost?
HackUTD GameJam is completely FREE!
What do I need?
A Computer and Internet
Any rules?
All work must be done at the event. Pre-made assets are allowed, such as libraries or sprites, but the game must be worked on from October 25th-30th.
How do I get my T-Shirt?
We will be distributing T-shirts to those that submit a playable game and live in the USA.
Are there prizes?
Our total prize pool is $1,000 split between 4 categories.
